April 15, In cities across the United States there were more than 750 Tea Parties where as many as half a million demonstrated against spending and bailouts. (SITE NOTE: Some sites tallied 650,000 and as high as 1.2 million. No one knows for sure as there were untold numbers of protests nationwide that were not reporterd.)
Events in15 April 2009 -- TAX DAY. Check Tax Day Tea Party (nationwide April 15 events) for events. On April 15th the DontGo Movement in collaboration with Michelle Malkin, Top Conservatives on Twitter, and Smart Girl Politics will be hosting Tax Day Tea Parties in every state in America. Internet TV media company Pajamas TV has been monitoring the recent Tea Party protests across the U.S. under its "American Tea Party" initiative and has extensive video coverage of the events on its website at www.PJTV.com. Pajamas TV is keeping a schedule of upcoming protests, interviewing organizations and individuals involved, and gathering photos and videos from various events. For the Tea Parties, the Portsmouth Tea Company will be donating one pound for every participating state. They will be providing tea similar to what was used at the 1773 Boston Tea Party. President of the Portsmouth Tea Company, Marshall Malone, says, “It’s an honor to aid in the revival of liberty – fighting socialism rather than imperialism. The number of lives impacted is greater than our founding fathers ever imagined. We will choose our own stimulus package and offer $2 shipping until tax day.”:
On 19 Mar 2009, The American Family Association, or AFA, is coordinating 1,000 Taxed Enough Already, or TEA, parties to be held at 12 p.m. in front of city halls across the nation. This protest is less on the tax aspects of Obama but on the moral and Christian issues with Obama's vision for America. The organization launched a Tea Party Day website just days ago so volunteer organizers may register their protests with AFA. The website also provides a list of other protests across the nation that are not organized by AFA. Michael DePrimo, special counsel to AFA President Tim Wildmon, told WND that AFA has been inundated with e-mails from citizens who want to attend or organize tea parties in their own cities. "We're trying to get people to attend these and we're also encouraging others if there is no tea party in their community to start their own," he said. "All we're trying to do is really generate activity to try to try to get people to attend these rallies to really send a message to Washington." The tea party website asks, Are you fed up with a Congress and a president who:
# vote for a $500 billion tax bill without even reading it
# are spending trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying?
# consistently give special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected?
# want to take your wealth and redistribute it to others?
# punish those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not?
# admit to using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda?
# run up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China?
# want government-controlled health care?
# want to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections?
# refuse to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country?
# appoint a defender of child pornography to the No. 2 position in the Justice Department?
# want to force doctors and other medical workers to perform abortions against their will?
# want to impose a carbon tax on your electricity, gas and home-heating fuels?
# want to reduce your tax deductibility for charitable gifts?
# take money from your family budget to pay their federal budget?
Michael DePrimo, special counsel to AFA President Tim Wildmon, told WND that AFA has been inundated with e-mails from citizens who want to attend or organize tea parties in their own cities. "We're trying to get people to attend these and we're also encouraging others if there is no tea party in their community to start their own," he said. "All we're trying to do is really generate activity to try to try to get people to attend these rallies to really send a message to Washington." "While many mainstream media outlets have provided little to no coverage of the nation's numerous tea parties so far, DePrimo said the growing movement is proof that Americans no longer need them to launch a widespread revolution. "I think the media does whatever the media choose to do," he said. "We're all aware that the media have a liberal bias. I suppose if it's big enough, they will report on it. If they think it really may spur some change in Washington that the media elites don't want, they may ignore the story altogether."De Primo continued, "The good news is that with the Internet, Facebook, texting and with all the ways we can communicate today, we don't necessarily need the mainstream media anymore. The message can get out without them."
PROTESTS BEWARE: Liberal Media Sending "Citizen Reporters" A Huffington Post columnist mocked, "Yes, stand up. You've been pushed around by Obama for too long – nearly 80 whole days. You poor long suffering muted people." The latest word is that Huffington Post and other liberal blog media are sending "citizen reporters" to the tea parties and requesting that they send their posts back to them. (Source: Huffington Post.) Nonetheless, the Huffington Post has organized an online sign up for anyone to attend the events on behalf of its organization as "citizen journalists." It asks them to write stories, photograph protests and film the events. Of course, the danger is that these "reporters" will ask leading questions or choose the most embarrassing moments -- or god-forbid even edit and photo-shop photos to gain their fifteen minutes of fame. But the protestors are being forewarned of the possibility and there truthfully is not much that can be done. If the protestors conduct and an orderly and lawful protest -- unlike many liberal hate-mongering demonstrations we've seen -- then there should be no problems at all. (SITE NOTE: After the tax day protests, the Huffington Post put out a series of photos with blatant RACIST intent -- showing ONLY white people with one individual with a sign accusing Obama of "White Slavery" and others with individuals with the "F-word" on their t-shirts or signs. Of course, the other signs of wit and insight were intentionally editted out. You get the picture -- but Huffington Post is a "technically" a blog of Ariana Huffington and not mainstream media per se -- though President Obama calls on its reporters during White House news conferences. It continued to push the Obama line that it was Republican sponsored, FOX News promoted and NOT a grassroots movement. Our answer is simply review the photos and nationwide blog comments on this page to see how out of touch with reality they are -- and the fear that is being generated by this movement that threatens to collapse the liberal power structure.)
Obama supporters are now out if force on every conservative blog attempting to saturate the blogs with their dissenting comments as April 15 approaches. The Obama effort to rally his obots at the end of March to turn out nationwide was an embarassment that Obama headquarters doesn't even want to mention as nobody showed up. Then Obama tried to rally support for his budget and again there seems to be lukewarm interest. Obama can't find the counter strategy that works. What is discouraging is how the mainstream media is INTENTIONALLY not covering the events. Only local tv stations are covering the events for their local areas -- and many are misreporting the numbers involved. For example, one event on 11 Apr reported "over a hundred" protestors -- but police and video footage confirm that between 600-1000 were present. In effect, the protests are being downplayed rather than given positive coverage. But the fact that the protests have grown from 3 cities when Obama signed his infamous Stimulus Package to over a 1000 towns/cities in less than six weeks says it all. This cannot be stopped -- media or not.
On the last week before the 15 Apr protests, the liberal media commentators started showing up on the talk shows to spew their comments. Geraldo Rivera of Fox News went so far as to say that the protests didn't have anyone of "color" involved -- meaning it was somehow racist. Of course, Geraldo was was facing Michael OReilley of TCOT (Pajama TV) who denounced him as "ill-informed" (meaning he hadn't read the FOX NEWS POLLS). On other shows, liberal media showed up to call the Tea Party a "fraud and a sham."
Others called the Tea Party as a "REPUBLICAN" movement -- planned by Republican think-tanks.
New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote, "Republicans have become embarrassing to watch. And it doesn't feel right to make fun of crazy people." He said the tea parties are not an accurate representation of public sentiment. "They're AstroTurf (fake grassroots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects," he wrote. USA Today reported that the nationwide protest would number only 500 U.S. town and cities, while a Forbes columnist argued that "federal revenues as a share of the gross domestic product will be lower this year than any year since 1950."
MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow Show" denigrated the movement with puns for 13 minutes, calling it "insanitea" organized by conservative activists. She laughed out loud as she disparaged "tea-baggers" during the broadcast. MSNBC's David Shuster accused Fox News of "fluffing" the Tax Day tea parties after the news channel became one of few major media outlets to consistently report on the events. (SITE NOTE: As sort of poetic justice, on 23 Apr it was reported that MSNBC's Rachel Maddow has suffered some steep audience of erosion in recent months, down more than 40 percent in viewership from her peak last fall during the election. According to the Los Angeles Times, Maddow's audience has gone from a high of 1.9 million viewers in the fall to just over 1.1 million in March. That's a big drop. Maddow was at her worst last week, falsely minimizing the tea parties held across the country as "the fizzle in the drizzle" and mocking the participants. Though the liberals tried to denigrate the Tea Party it is now being sorted out how many attended the grassroots protest that was up to over 750,000 without the end count from all the small towns yet.)
Newsweek Senior Editor Daniel Gross said the movement was "AstroTurf" rather than grassroots because he alleges it began from the top down, according to NewsBusters. "I think, when it comes to teabagging, the president should probably just ignore this," Gross said. "He's got 10 other things on his plate, you know, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, the banking crisis, the overall economic situation, health care. To get bogged down with a – you know, what seems to be a fringe group of people throwing consumer products into the lakes and rivers of this nation doesn't seem to be worthy of his attention. …"
Of course, having monitored this from the beginning -- and as one who has written to the Republican Party for their LACK of support at the inception and my disapproval of their platform as a life-long Republican -- I will attest that this is a true grassroots movement. It is non-partisan -- and I wouldn't want it any other way now that I see how it has turned out.
According to the World Net Daily, ACORN spokesman Charles Jackson told WND the group has been planning rallies for the same day. "ACORN is going to be engaged in a series of rallies across the country on April 15 in support of the priorities outlined in President Obama's first budget – investments in education, health care, and getting Americans back to work," Jackson said. He continued, "This is the first we've heard of these 'tea parties' and, frankly, a gripe-fest by a bunch of conservatives whose preferred economic policies got us in this mess in the first place is of no interest to us."
Regardless, the protestors are being warned to NOT react to the anti-protestors because that's just what they want. Hecklers and others are a danger, but ACORN and the like cannot be in EVERY protest in America and we believe in our souls that the grassroots movement cannot be stopped.
Guess how DHS defines who is a terrorist now? (May 2009)Two weeks before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security penned its controversial report warning against "right-wing extremists" in the United States, it generated a memo defining dozens of additional groups – animal rights activists, black separatists, tax protesters, even worshippers of the Norse god Odin – as potential "threats."
Though the "Domestic Extremism Lexicon" was reportedly rescinded almost immediately, Benjamin Sarlin of The Daily Beast recently obtained and published online a copy of the unclassified memo, dated March 26, 2009.
While many of the groups listed in the lexicon – such as Aryan prison gangs and neo-Nazis – may indeed be widely considered extremists, others will likely take offense at being described as a potential "threat." For example, the memo defines the "tax resistance movement" – also referred to in the report as the tax protest movement or the tax freedom movement – as "groups or individuals who vehemently believe taxes violate their constitutional rights. Among their beliefs are that wages are not income, that paying income taxes is voluntary, and that the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which allowed Congress to levy taxes on income, was not properly ratified."
The report, however, continues in its assessment of tax protesters, asserting that members "have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence and terrorism in an attempt to advance their extremist goals." (SITE NOTE: Though the "tax protestors" are a group that actively refuses to pay income tax and have been associated with "survivalists", the broad definition would now include the 750,000 people who showed up for the Tea Party on 15 Apr were "extremists.)
Similarly, the lexicon concludes its definition of "black separatists" by asserting, "Such groups or individuals also may embrace radical religious beliefs. Members have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence directed toward local law enforcement in an attempt to advance their extremist goals."
In his blog piece titled "Who You Calling an Extremist?" Sarlin writes, "Partisans leapt to decry the first DHS memo as part of a Democratic conspiracy to marginalize right wingers. But it became clear that DHS's broad descriptions of extremists were symptomatic of an ongoing agency problem that crossed ideological lines."
The lexicon states its purpose is to provide "definitions for key terms and phrases that often appear in DHS analysis that addresses the nature and scope of the threat that domestic, non-Islamic extremism poses to the United States." Apparently, the DHS analyzes the "threat" level of Internet news websites like WorldNetDaily, for the lexicon defines "alternative media" as "a term used to describe various information sources that provide a forum for interpretations of events and issues that differ radically from those presented in mass media products and outlets." (SITE NOTE: The broad definition would also include this website as well.)
The term "black power," widely used in a variety of contexts, also merits a definition in the lexicon: "A term used by black separatists to describe their pride in and the perceived superiority of the black race."
For example, the lexicon contains virtually the same broad-stroke language the right-wing extremism report used.
"Rightwing extremism," the lexicon defines as those "who can be broadly divided into those who are primarily hate-oriented, and those who are mainly antigovernment and reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority. This term also may refer to rightwing extremist movements that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration." (SITE NOTE: That means that legislators who propose 10th Amendment sovereignty resolutions in the state legislators are "Rightwing Extremists" too.)
The lexicon further points to those who oppose driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. "Anti-immigration extremism," the lexicon defines as "a movement of groups or individuals who are vehemently opposed to illegal immigration, particularly along the U.S. southwest border with Mexico, and who have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence and terrorism to advance their extremist goals. They are highly critical of the U.S. Government's response to illegal immigration and oppose government programs that are designed to extend 'rights' to illegal aliens, such as issuing driver's licenses or national identification cards and providing in-state tuition, medical benefits, or public education." (SITE NOTE: This means that most conservative blogs and talk radio show hosts are "estremists" as well. At the forefront would be Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh and a slew of other conservative syndicated columnists and talk show hosts.)
Unlike the right-wing extremism report, however, the lexicon includes definitions of extremism across a broad spectrum of issues: anarchy, animal rights extremism, black nationalism, Cuban independence, environmentalism, Jewish extremism, Mexican separatism, right-wing militias, white supremacists, the anti-war movement and more.
Among the more curious groups the DHS appears to be monitoring is the "racial Nordic mysticism" group, defined as "an ideology adopted by many white supremacist prison gangs who embrace a Norse mythological religion, such as Odinism or Asatru."
Among the more comical definitions is the description given of what "racist skinheads" wear, enabling law officers, it appears, to identify skinheads by their preferred brand of footwear: "Dress may include a shaved head or very short hair," the report states, "jeans, thin suspenders, combat boots or Doc Martens, a bomber jacket, and tattoos of Nazi-like emblems."
Sarlin, who first publicized the memo, reports that a spokesperson for DHS told him the memo was recalled "within minutes" of being issued but declined to offer any details on the reasons for its withdrawal. (Source: WND.)
AUBURN UNIVERSITY Tea Party (AL) -- When: April 15, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: Samford Lawn Contact: cwren5024@gmail.comUPDATE .More than 600 people gathered outside of the Auburn University Library Wednesday for one of hundreds of Tax Day Tea Parties across the nation with a message for our government: Stop overspending. Private citizens and public officials took the microphone at the protest to voice their concerns, while others threw tea bags into a plastic pool. The main theme among speakers and spectators was that the government is overspending and that Americans will be paying for government bailouts and the stimulus plan for years to come. “This is for all Americans, no matter what affiliation, who don’t agree with spending in Washington,” said Paige Collins, one of the event organizers. “I do believe Washington should spend our money wisely. Thomas Jefferson said, ‘Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have.’” Opelika Municipal Judge Ben Hand, who spoke at the event, said, “We run the government. We are the government and we’ve had enough.” Tim James, who plans to run for Alabama governor in 2010, also stopped by. “In a blink of an eye we’ve become Europe,” he said. “They lay that debt on the back of our children and grandchildren. It’s not right.” (Opelika and Auburn Now.)

Maybe 3000-5000. It was A LOT of people. The crowd extended way past the designated area, to the pavillions, behind the stage. The Birmingham, Alabama Tea Party at Veteran's Park in Shelby County. (One of the most Conservative Counties in the country.) My wife and I were there and were amazed at the crowd and the program... wow. All the speakers were great and Dominick rocked the house! The organizers did a truly outstanding job—the ladies can go pro any time they want to as far as I'[m concerned. They did a much better job than any pro could. --
FAIRHOPE Tea Party (AL) -- April 15, 3:00pm - 6:00pm Where: Fairhope Pier, South Beach Contact: fairhopeteaparty@gmail.com Gene Labrato Phone: 251-979-5805 UPDATE More than 500 people attended Wednesday's Tax Day Tea Party at the municipal park by the city's pier, far more than organizers had expected. "It started becoming clear yesterday that we should have arranged to have buses shuttling people here from the grocery stores out on Greeno Road, but by then it was too late," said Gene Labrato, one of the Fairhope event's organizers. Labrato said he is a fan of nationally syndicated talk show host Glenn Beck, a self-described libertarian and conservative Christian. Labrato made a point of saying that he and the event's other organizers did not hold the same views as some who attended Wednesday's rally who distributed anti-Semitic literature or bore signs calling President Barack Obama "the anti- Christ."

HUNTSVILLE Tea Party (AL) -- When: April 15, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Where: TBA Contact: Christie Carden P: 256.603.9676 Email Contact: christie.carden@yahoo.com UPDATE Police estimate 2300 people came out for the Tax Day Tea Party held in the vacant lot across from the U.S. Post Office on Clinton Avenue --- An estimated 2,000 protestors jammed into a vacant parking lot in downtown Huntsville Thursday, protesting recent government spending by the Obama administration.
The "Tax Day Tea Party" off Clinton Avenue overflowed into the streets, and featured speeches by radio talk show host Dale Jackson and Madison County commissioner Mo Brooks. The event was one of several hundred across America, giving voice to a taxpayer tirade that has reached a boiling point in recent weeks. "Taxed Enough Already", or "TEA" for short, harkened back to the Boston Tea Party of 1773, hoping to draw on historical sentiment against unjust taxation and wasteful government spending. Those who attended slammed this year's record setting federal budget pushed by President Obama and passed by Congress, along with the recent bailout and stimulus plans. Plenty of signs could be found slamming the president and Democratic congressional leaders. "We're not getting what we want out of government..Government is telling us what they want, they don't hear what we want" said protestor Mark Guthrie. "Somebody's gonna listen, somebody's gonna hear us, and I think that's the best we can do.
"I hope Congress and the government will wake up," added Christina Gaylord. "The main concern is we do not have the money to support this massive spending bill that's going on." Other "Tax Day Tea Parties" in larger cities such as New York and Atlanta drew several thousand people. In response to the rallies, the Obama administration issued a statement defending the president's recent tax cuts. (WHNTV.)

TRUSSVILLE Tea Party (AL) --When: April 15, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Where: TBA Contact: LACorvin@aol.com Other Info:FREE LUNCH BEING SERVED, MUSIC, SPEAKERS, CHILDREN’S STATION WITH KITES & BUBBLES, and VOTER REGISTRATION TABLE UPDATE Spent a good bit of the day yesterday on the mall in downtown Trussville, Alabama, where we had a fantastic tax day tea party. About a thousand people showed up to wave signs and flags, eat hot dogs, drink — of course — tea, and listen to the likes of Stan Cooke, Anita Briles, Jeremy Walker, Rosemarie Musso, Lester Phillip, Lee Davis, Matt Murphy, Hank Erwin, and George and Martha Washington (no, really!). There were voter registration booths, and a place where you could sign up for information about future events.
The shindig was conceived and executed by the Republican Women of Trussville, who put the whole thing together in about three weeks. It was a lot of fun, and they're looking at doing it again, perhaps on the Fourth of July.

Other: http://sites.google.com/site/alaskanteaparty/Home UPDATE More than 1,200 protesters crammed the corners of Seventh Avenue and C Street in Anchorage today as part of a national Tax Day Tea Party organized by a coalition of conservative groups. "(This is) the first time I've ever been to a protest in my entire life," said 45-year-old fitness instructor Amy Brun, who says the federal government should let the free market save the economy rather than going deeper in debt in an attempt to spur recovery. "I don't want any more bailouts," she said. "I didn't want the one Bush imposed, I didn't want the one Obama imposed. ... I really think something like that should have been brought to the people." --- “In Anchorage, Alaska more than 1,000 people met at the Federal Building starting at 11 am. Scores of people drove by, honking and yelling. Many great signs, but one of the best was “Don’t Tax Me, Bro’” I was told there were other events around the state, including 2 in Fairbanks, Wasilla, Juneau, Ketchikan and Kodiak.”
FAIRBANKS Tea Party (AK) -- April 15, 12:00 Noon - 2:00 pm Where: 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. — Corner of Airport Way and Noble
1:00 - 2:00 p.m. — Federal Building, 101 12th Avenue Contact: alaskanteaparty@yahoo.com UPDATE Several hundred Fairbanksans marched on the Federal Building Wednesday afternoon as part of the nationwide protest against the federal government’s recent bailouts of Wall Street firms. As part of the event, protesters collected more than 5 pounds of tea bags in a large garbage bag, which was delivered to the office of Sen. Mark Begich. The protest was meant to evoke the imagery of the Boston Tea Party, Begich, a Democrat, was the only member of Alaska’s congressional delegation to vote for the $787 billion economic stimulus package passed earlier this year. The protesters, who mostly identified themselves as conservative or independent, first gathered on Noble Street, near Airport Way. Hundreds waved signs, proclaiming “Give me liberty, not debt,” and “Let bad bankers fail,” among dozens of other slogans. “The taxing of us and future generations is getting out of hand,” said Myrna McGhie, who helped organize Wednesday’s event in Fairbanks after hearing about tea parties in other cities around the country. “I don’t want my kids in debt for the next couple of decades.” Longtime Fairbanks resident Bert Samson, standing on the side of Noble with a bright red “$top $pending” sign expressed outrage at the federal government’s recent fiscal policies, and wondered if his children would pay an income tax as high as 90 percent. “(Obama) fired the head of a private company,” said Samson, referring to the president recently asking the head of GM to resign. “What the hell is going on here?” Most of those in attendance flatly denied the assertion by top government officials that allowing major banks or insurance giant AIG to fail would lead to an economic crisis as bad or worse than the Great Depression. “I believe that in capitalism, and companies need to fail is what needs to happen,” said Les Mitchell. “It’s still going to happen, they’re just delaying it.” After rallying on Noble Street for an hour, the crowd moved to the Federal Building where “Proud To Be an American” blared on loudspeakers as they waved signs on the building’s footsteps. Afterward, the group chanted “Enough is enough” and “Stop spending my money.” “I wish it wasn’t our tea,” said Schaeffer Cox, who has recently organized a local Second Amendment Task Force to fight gun possible legislation. “They didn’t have to buy their tea at the first tea party.” Despite warnings from security guards at the building that they would not let in more than five protesters at a time, Cox and Fairbanks North Star Borough candidate Rick Sikma led a group of more than a dozen to Begich’s office to present the senator with the tea bags. Begich was not in Fairbanks on Wednesday, but an office worker accepted the tea bags. “They told us that groups larger than five were going to be arrested,” Cox said. “We decided that if you can’t walk in groups of five, then you’re a prisoner already. What does it matter if you’re in jail?” “They knew that if they arrested us they would have to let us go,” added Sikma, who compared the tactics employed by building security to those used by Hitler. Begich spokeswoman Julie Hasquet said that the senator has received a handful of tea bags in the mail in recent weeks. Protesters in Anchorage marched outside of Begich’s office, but did not give their tea bags to him. “We appreciate the message today and place a high value on freedom of speech,” she said. “At the same time, millions of dollars in tax cuts apply to Alaskans as well.” Someone from the group originally planned to return to the Fairbanks office today to retrieve the tea bags and donate them to the homeless, but Begich’s office disposed of the bag when several moose nuggets were discovered mixed in with the tea bags, Hasquet said. (Source: Fairbanks Daily News Miner.) --- “In Fairbanks we had 300 at the first rally (sign waving) and 200 at the second rally (Federal Building). (Count from Fairbanks Newspaper).”

SOLDOTNA Tea Party (AK) -- April 15, 5:00 pm Where: at the “Y” Contact: brooks53@mtaonline.net UPDATE Dozens of protestors, many toting large American flags or waving signs with anti-tax slogans, stood in a brisk wind and blowing dirt Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Bridge Access Road and the Kenai Spur Highway, showing their displeasure with federal government spending. The crowd of demonstrators in Kenai was not thwarted by a city street sweeper that decided Wednesday would be an opportune time to sweep up sand that had accumulated at the intersection over the winter. Another anti-tax rally was planned for later in the day at the "Y" in Soldotna. Similar rallies, fashioned after the Boston Tea Party tax protest, were conducted across the country on the national deadline day for filing federal income tax returns. A notice sent to the Clarion said the "Alaska Tea Party" gathering is to send a message to leaders of both parties that taxpayers are angry about the bailouts, increased debt, pork projects and other wasteful spending rampant in Washington, D.C. "We're not anti-tax," said Carol Keller, one of the organizers of the Soldotna rally. "We just know the new taxes coming down are going to be overwhelming." ... (Peninsula Clarion.)
WASILLA Tea Party (AK) -- April 15, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Where: Wasilla Lake Contact: brooks53@mtaonline.net UPDATE The Wasilla Tea Party was extremely well attended yesterday. There were close to 1,000 people at the event in the middle of the afternoon. That's pretty good for a small town. It was at the Wasilla Lake Park at the corner of the Parks Highway and Crusey Street. Don Young showed up to give a speech and there was also an open mike for people to have their say. Looks like this will likely be an annual event. (Valley Market News.)

FAYETTEVILLE Tea Party (AR) Wednesday, April 15, 2009 4 pm - 7 pm Fayetteville Square downtown
Fayetteville, AR 72703 Contact Info: Laurie Masterson laurie@mtconstruction.com We want to encourage other like-minded citizens who are interested in standing united as Americans to protect the principles and values of the greatest nation ever created; to oppose giant government programs that will reach deep into our pockets, creating huge economic burdens for ourselves and our children. FORT SMITH Tea Party (AR) -- April 15, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Where: Ross Pendergraft Park, 200 Garrison Ave Contact: tom@spmihr.com UPDATE I just got back home from our Tea Party, & the 1st thing I thought I'd do is write a report on how well it went. I hope I'm doing this correctly, 'cuz I've never written a vanity post before. It turned out to be fantastic! Earlier in the day I thought to myself, "Wow, I hope we can get 20-30 folks to show up". Boy, was I wrong! One estimate said there was 600 people in attendance, while another said that anywhere from 1200 - 1500. It was a really exciting event & I am thrilled that I made it. To my surprise (& pleasure), there were no left-wing Code Pink / ACORN idiots there to try to spoil the fun. I found several other RON PAUL supporters there, & one of them handed out copies of "The Obama Deception" DVD. One of the guys @ the mic poked fun of what he called "Big Government Conservatives" & mentioned that such a concept is a total oxymoron. I likened them to "athiestic Christians", & a lot of people agreed w/ me. People were lining up so they could sign their names & e-mail addresses to a list that would keep them informed on any upcoming events such as this....& I eatimate there were over 250 signatures! Since I am just now getting home, I have yet to hear about how well other places around the country have done....but I can't wait to find out, & I hope that the success that we has was only a drop in the bucket when it comes to the anger that is being felt against President Obama's socialist, anti-Constitution goals. Yes, we may have some enemies abroad, but we must NEVER forget that America's domestic enemies are here, they are in power right this very moment, & we must do something to stop them before they destroy our once-Constitutional republic!

LITTLE ROCK Tea Party (AR) -- April 15, 3:00 pm Where: Arkansas State Capitol Contact: research@alohapontoons.com Phone:501.258.4210 UPDATE Just back from the Arkansas Tax Day Tea Party event at the State Capitol in Little Rock and, damn, did those guys pull it off. Crowd estimates are always a dicey proposition (this AP report smartly plays it safe and puts it at “hundreds”), but I was there about 90 minutes and a steady stream of people kept filing in. If it didn’t hit a thousand folks, I’d be surprised.
Overall, the atmosphere was fairly low-key — the speakers were spirited but not angry. Organizer Tom Cox, a local business owner, made an effort to play down the partisan politics and strike an ecumenical tone reaching out to Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians. I mean, yeah, it was mostly right-winger types, but they did make an effort to move the message beyond that. Arkansas Project contributor Rep. Dan Greenberg was the only elected official to speak, and he let loose with a fiery anti-tax speech that was well-received. --- I say there were 2,500-2,700 people at the State Capitol. I got that from the State Trooper on site who’s job it is to estimate a crowd. Steady stream of people from 2:00-6:00. This was just the first of Rally’s, next one will be around Flag Day, June 14, 2009. We are going to stay on the political scene and keep the pressure up when it comes to voting by our elected officials. They work for us and they will be held accountable to know what “We the People” want, or we can give them unemployment. --- The Arkansas Tea Parties for Central Arkansas went well today. Several organizations participated in the events. The meeting at the State Capitol had over 2,000 people attending and had most media outlets covering it. KeepArkansasLegal members attended and handed out information about illegal immigration. We also had an anti-amnesty banner. Afterwards, we went to the North Little Rock mailing facility and waved signs. Attached to this is a slideshow from both Tea Parties. Here are some news links below along with a description of how they covered the event: http://arkansasmatters.com/content/fulltext/?cid=211612 Our local NBC affiliate KARK 4 -Kept partisanship as the main subject by claiming most of the people were Republican and of course the loaded Obama question. Also gave coverage to the half-dozen pro-taxes protest at the Little Rock mail office. We do need to remember Snyder's comments that he supports the Obama spending plan for 2010. http://cfc.katv.com/videoondemand.cfm?id=38133&cat=news ABC affiliate KATV7-Did a better job but underestimated the numbers and could do would some better video. http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=83447&catid=2 CBS affiliate KTHV11-Best coverage from local TV. Several different people were interviewed and filmed. Only needed to mention that over 1,000 attended. http://www.fox16.com/news/local/story/Protests-on-Obamas-budget-planned-throughout-Ark/Qufc_8AKgke5kV3BF722rA.cspx Fox16-Couldn't find any Tea Party coverage, only a story that announces them along with the pro-taxes event. On the same link, there's 3 photos of the Tea Party at the Capitol. Our local fox station has been shown to be liberal in the past, which is why they won't update the story or include video. --- I thought Channel 11 did a decent coverage piece in their 10pm news. I didn’t detect any bias. Too bad I couldn’t leave work from downtown until 5:30pm. By the time I got to the Capitol they had just finished and people were starting to disperse. I estimated the crowd around 2,000 from what I saw. People were well behaved, but vocal. It was encouraging to see that some folks are finally waking up. I hope this is just the beginning of a growing event.

OZARKS/MOUNTAIN HOME Tea Party (AR) -- When: April 15, time TBA
Where: TBA Contact: arteaparty@hotmail.com UPDATE Attended local Tea Bag protest at the town square Mountain Home ar
Approx 1500 people A young man approx 30 yrs was the "emcee" Had 3 prayers and invocation from Christian minister (denomination ?) NO Democratic speakers 1 local Republican state Rep spoke Talk of repeal of "estate tax", capital gains tax Strong anti-EFCA speech Bashed the 2 Democratic US Senators Bashed the districts Dem Congressman and 2 adjoining district Dem Congressman No criticism or mention on ANY Republican officerholders past or present I arrived at approx 530 CST and left a little before 6PM If this is any indication of any other "tea bag" protests they seem to be pretty one side Just a quick observation from small town America --- An estimated 1,000 people converged on the Mountain Home Plaza here Wednesday night for the Ozark TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party. The tax-and-spend protest theme was consistent with similar events nationwide that had been heavily promoted for weeks by the Fox News Channel and FreedomWorks, a conservative nonprofit advocacy group based in Washington and led by former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas. The local event was coordinated by 18-year-old Richard Caster of Mountain Home. Most of the speakers took the microphone to vent frustrations about government bailouts and stimulus spending that now totals more than $3 trillion. Calls to return Congress to a fiscally conservative majority in two years also was a frequent theme. "This is not a Republican event. This is not a Democrat event. This is an American event," Caster, a member of the Baxter County Republican Committee and president of Baxter County Teenage Republicans, told the group at the outset of the party.
Before the event, a table near the stage was covered with 3,000 pink fliers styled "Pink Slip." There were 750 each which were directed by name to four members of the state's delegation to the U.S. Congress — Sen. Blanche Lincoln, Rep. Marion Berry, Rep. Vic Snyder and Rep. Mike Ross, all Democrats and up for re-election in the next Congressional election cycle in 2010. The pink slips' text included, "We The People Say, Shape Up or Ship Out" followed by a blank area for a signature. Of the panel of speakers, only former Cabot mayor Mickey D. "Stubby" Stumbaugh, expressed disappointment in President George W. Bush's spending habits as president. Caster was giddy about the turnout. "I expected, realistically, 200 to 300," he said. The speakers' panel included two notable Republicans — Arkansas Sen. Johnny Key and District 81 Rep. Karen Hopper. Caster said he caught a little flack for having elected officials on the speaker's list. Spectators were equally impressed by the turnout. ... (Baxter Bulletin) --- “1,500 In Mountain Home Arkansas!!!!!! Im the 18 year old organizer it was amazing! In a town of 11,000 WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?”

GILBERT Tea Party (AZ) - Wednesday, April 15, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Gilbert administration building UPDATE Slideshow of the Gilbert Protest at http://www.examiner.com/examiner/examinerslideshow.html?entryid=192651 UPDATE An enthusiastic crowd of as many as 800 to 1,000 people gathered Wednesday at Gilbert's municipal complex for the Southeast Valley portion of the national protest against excessive taxes and government spending.
Even organizer Jean Gerstner of Gilbert was surprised by the number of people who turned out for the Gilbert TEA (Taxed Enough Already!) Party Rally, which, like hundreds of similar demonstrations across the country, was scheduled to coincide with the deadline for filing federal and state income taxes. "They blew us away," she said. "They exceeded our expectations." The protests were called in opposition of federal spending levels as well as federal bank bailouts and other parts of the economic stimulus program. Gerstner addressed the crowd, likening a government bailout to a parent giving their child an allowance when they can't afford to make mortgage payments. State Rep. Andy Biggs and Sen. Majority Leader Thayer Verschoor, both Gilbert Republicans, were among several speakers who addressed to the lively crowd. "Taxation has caused us tremendous problems," Biggs said. Former Gilbert councilman and mayoral candidate Dave Petersen also spoke. "It warms my heart to see this many people concerned about taxing," he said. "We cannot tax ourselves into prosperity" Rally participants held signs that read things like "Born Free, TAXED to Death" through the strong breeze. A few people threw dozens of tea bags in the air.
Catherine Armstrong, of Mesa, held a sign that said "No More Bailouts." She said she heard about the rally through the Internet and participated because she is concerned about excessive government spending. (SNIP) The peaceful rally was advertised as non-partisan, though many protesters held anti-Barack Obama signs, and local politicians like Verschoor criticized liberals, calling them socialists to a cheering crowd. Still, participants remained optimistic, chanting, "Yes We Can" and "Yes We Will." (Arizona Central.)

PHOENIX Tea Party (AZ) -- When: April 15, 6:00pm Where: Capitol building Contact: Keith Sipmann Other Info: http://www.americanpoliticalanalysis.com UPDATE How many people would you say there were? It was hard to tell on the ground. I would have liked to see an aerial view. Everywhere you tried to walk, it was crowded and difficult to move. I gotta think that tomorrow on KFYI, they might give us an honest estimate. I wouldn’t trust estimates from any other media. I think there had to be 2,000 to 5,000 people there, but as I said, difficult to esitmate from wandering thru the crowd, but it was definitely massive. It was hard to even get near enuf to the KFYI booth to hear the speakers, and they had a reasonably loud sound system — that’s how crowded it was. -- It was happening. It was cool. It was special. I think it is the first protest I have ever attended. Sorry you couldn’t come, but be assured, there will be more events when the Marxists try to push thru Socialized Healthcare and Legalize Illegal Immigrants. --

We had 2000-2500 (police estimate) folks show up for the protest on 15 Apr. These were Libertarians, Independents, Democrats and Republicans. More importantly, they were mostly people who have never held a sign up in protest. It was orderly, on focus, and inspirational.”
SIERRA VISTA Tea Party (AZ) -- April 15 (LOCAL UNANNOUNCED TEA PARTY) UPDATE A few hundred tea bags will be headed to one of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' offices next week from participants of local tax day "tea party" rallies on Wednesday.
More than 500 people demonstrated and spoke against government spending at rallies at Veterans' Memorial Park and on Fry Boulevard. While inspired by the Boston Tea Party, this modern day Arizona tea party didn't involve throwing tea into a harbor. Zack Taylor of Nogales, Ariz., in a red, white and blue suit covered with tea labels and bags, asked participants to write their names on tea bags. He plans to deliver them to one of Giffords' district offices next week to show that taxpayers have had enough. Participants took turns on a microphone to vent their frustrations on issues, including illegal immigration, and to advocate for lower taxes and a balanced budget. Bob Bookout said the message isn't new, but the tea parties are "waking people up."
TUCSON Tea Party (AZ) -- When: April 15, 10:00am - 3:00pm Where: Downtown Tucson, in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library on 101 N. Stone Ave. Contact: arizonateaparty@gmail.com. Other Info: http://www.publiuspundit.com/?p=3226 UPDATE Tucson, Arizona: Doug wrote, "AMAZING, I thought maybe 50 people would show up in our little lefty leaning town. The silent majority is no more....let's keep it rolling." -- About 2,000 Tucsonans celebrated Tax Day by protesting how those tax dollars are being used by the federal government. The Tucson Tea Party, part of a string of hundreds of protests held throughout the country Wednesday, served as a chance for citizens to voice their displeasure with the various bailout and stimulus plans generated by President Barack Obama’s administration.
YUMA Tea Party (AZ) -- April 15, 5:00pm - 7:00pm Where: Gateway Park Contact: semmons@vcnet.com Other Info: www.arizonateaparty.com More Info: http://coloradoriverteaparty.com UPDATE I attended the Colorado River Tea Party this evening in Yuma, Arizona. I took off from work for a couple of hours so I was able to get there a little early. By 5 pm, there were about 500 people there. I had counted 400 before 5 pm, then counted people as they arrived. At a little after 5:30 we had a bit over 1100 people. This is a pretty good sized crowd for Yuma after the snowbird season. I met a number of people that I knew from my association with local politics, but most of them were new folks who did not like the way the country was going. If there was a common theme, it was respect and restore the Constituion, we have been ignoring it and twisting it beyond recognition for too long! --- “The Colorado River Tea Party had about 1500 in attendance, with 1084 of those signing a resolution demanding that the legislative and executive branches repeal the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, TARP, the Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan, the 2009 Appropriation Bill, the President’s 2010 budget proposal, the 16th Amendment, and to abolish the Federal Reserve.”

BAKERSFIELD Tea Party (CA) -- When: April 15, 4:30pm - 6:30pm Where: Courthouse @ the Liberty Bell,1415 Truxtun Avenue Email: bakersfieldteaparty@gmail.com UPDATE I came out early to see todays Tea Party in Bakersfield. It had a huge turnout. Hundreds at least with 5 lefties who wondered on in and then went to the fringe. (It got to crowded in the main square to move around by about 4:00 PM!). Congressman Kevin McCarthy came by along with local radio show host Jazz McKay. It got so packed I never even saw the two of them! I stayed pretty busy taking pictures so I have a sample of such below with running commentary. They were selling T-shirts with this. They sold out quickly. I got there early so I got mine! They had a huge flag hanging form a crane. It was hard to capture just how many people were there. I had to step on the other side of the street to get this view. Some lefties did show up. There were 5. The cops formed a barrier around them because they were outnumbered 100 to one. --- Most had never been to a protest. They asked at ours (Bakersfield, crowd of about 2500) how many had never been to a protest before. Between 2/3 and 3/4 of the crowd raised their hands. Very telling. Definitely grassroots and not like ACORN's paying people to attend.

ESCONDIDO Tea Party (CA) -- April 15, 5p.m - 7p.m. Where: 403 N. Escondido Blvd. Email: miller6219@sbcglobal.net UPDATE Escondido is located in North San Diego County in sunny Southern California. Today, however, it was windy and cold (for SoCal anyway), and most of us were wondering where all the Global Warming went… we would have welcomed some. Anyway, we had about 1,000 people show up, perhaps a bit more at the peak. The Tea Party was scheduled for 5 to 7 pm outside the post office on Escondido Blvd. I arrived about 4:45pm at which time there were about 300+ folks mostly on the east side of the Blvd. where the Civic Center parking lot is located. By 6 pm both sides of the Blvd. between Washington Ave., and Valley Pkwy (about a quarter mile), were lined with people, 2 and 3 deep in most places. The event organizers had a van with sound system and played music and gave a few speeches. One hot topic of conversation during the protest was the DHS memo to law-enforcement. We are mad that many of us are now considered potential domestic terrorists… especially those waving Gadsen Flags and those of us military veterans. Lots of vets present here today. I heard on the radio before going to the protest that some reporters were calling these demonstrations "racist gatherings" of Obama haters. Not so. There were folks there of all ethnic persuasions. I have opted not to show their faces to protect them from possible reprisals from the Jesse Jackson camp. Common sense Patriots come in all shapes, sizes and colors! (Free Republic.)
EUREKA Tea Party (CA) -- April 15, 12:00 PM - ? Where: County Courthouse - 5th & I Streets, Eureka, CA Contact: smlboss@aol.com Organizer: Gwen Morris / Dorice Miranda Phone: 707-498-3101 UPDATE A crowd of between 1,200 and 1,500 gathered today on the steps of the county courthouse in Eureka Ca., (approx 300 miles north of San Francisco), and they were not happy. Eureka is a town of only about 28,000 and the fact that they could gather this type of a crowd on a work day is amazing. This was entirely grass roots, no presence from the local Rep party or any public officials.
FRESNO (Central Valley) Tea Party (CA) -- When: April 15th, 2009 Where: Fresno Save Mart Center Time: 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM Email: fresnoteaparty@gmail.com This event is being organized by the grassroots efforts of Fresno citizen Melissa Wheeler Courtney in conjunction with California State Tax Day Tea Party Coordinator, Mark Meckler, (mark@mecklermail.com) and Chris Daniel of KMJ AM Radio 580. Fresno is joining an estimated 600 cities across America in making our collective voices heard by throwing a huge Tea Party/Tax Protest. It is projected that we could get a crowd of 5,000 people together in Fresno! Wouldn't that be awesome? With KMJ promoting this, who knows how big this could be? UPDATE About 7,500 people showed up at the Tea Party at Save Mart Center, one of thousands held around the country on tax day. Fresno was just one of thousands of cities to host a tea party on Wednesday and was also one of the largest events in the county.
The event is based on the pre-revolutionary war protests in Boston, where Americans took a stance against excessive government taxation. The people at the tea party in Fresno say they don't care if you're a Republican or a Democrat. They say everyone, from every background or social standing should be upset about the current trend of big government, big spending policies and huge corporate bailouts. It’s not known if all the protests will have any affect on the politicians but that didn’t stop the people attending from making their feelings known. --- I just don't have words to express what a great event this turned out to be! They are saying it was the BIGGEST IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY! The energy of the crowd was phenomenal, the young patriots marching in with flags singing loud and clear.... "We're Not Going to Take it Anymore!", the speakers were great, and the excitement of the crowd was electric! I've never been to anything like this before and it will be a day long remembered as one of the best of my life! Imagine, 7,500 people!!!!

(1) SACRAMENTO Tea Party (CA) -- mark.grassroots@gmail.com Apr. 15 Tax Day Tea Party 3:30 PM PDT - 2.5 hours We invite you to join the Sacramento Campaign for Liberty on Tax Day, April 15th, for the second Sacramento Tea Party of the day. If you're ticked off with how the government is spending your hard-earned money, this event is the event for you. If you're tired of bailouts and stimulus plans, take action with the Campaign for Liberty! Please keep signs and/or literature focused and on target. Sacramento Campaign for Liberty -- When: April 15, 12:00pm - 3:00pm Where: Sacramento State Capitol, L Street Contact: mark.grassroots@gmail.com P. 530.274.9900 Other Info: http://site.sacteaparty.com/ UPDATE In what the California Highway Patrol said was a large but peaceful crowd, more than 5,000 people came to the state Capitol today to protest higher taxes in California and the Obama administration's national policies. (SITE NOTE: Organizers claimed 10,000, but the Police estimates were 5,000) Speakers, including Fox News' Neil Cavuto, talk radio personality Michael Reagan and U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Elk Grove, rallied the vocal crowd through and beyond the lunch hour. Many carried "No on 1A" signs, protesting the ballot measure on the May 19 special election that would create a state spending restrictions and extend state tax increases by $16 billion. Billed as a "tea party," the rally was one of hundreds across the nation today, the day income tax returns and payments are due. In California, anti-tax sentiments are running especially high this year after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers made a state budget deal in February that included temporary increases to sales, income and vehicle taxes. The ballot measure would extend the taxes from 2011 to 2013. (Sacramento Bee.) --- Something hugely significant just happened here at the Sacramento Tea Party. Organizer Mark Meckler singled out GOP opportunists who wouldn’t give him the time of day weeks ago — and then wanted to hitch their wagons to the Tea Party bandwagon at the last minute. Meckler said he heard that California GOP chair Ron Nehring was in the audience. Meckler invited him to say hi to the crowd — and then ripped him for waffling on the massive tax hike ballot measures (particularly Prop1A - $16 billion tax hikes). Massive boos from the crowd of thousands here against the Calif. GOP establishment. Will this make the MSM coverage? It doesn’t fit the narrative. But it’s yet another demonstration that this movement is not partisan and equal opportunity when it comes to holding politicians’ feet to the fire for fiscal irresponsibility and fecklessness. (Michelle Malkin.) -- Karen England, executive director of the Capitol Resource Institute, reported that police discarded U.S. flags when citizens attempted to enter the California Capitol building in Sacramento. "We could not believe that they would prohibit the American flag in the Capitol," England said. "I am still not clear why this is prohibited. The guard at the door originally cited safety concerns, but after consulting with his superiors the rationale became a general prohibition on signs and banners."

SAN FRANCISCO Tea Party (CA) -- When: April 15, 11:00am - 1:00pm Where: Civic Center Park, San Francisco
Contact: Sallyzel@comcast.net UPDATE Despite a concerted effort by the MSM to ignore and or belittle the burgeoning conservative Tea Party movement, on this bright April tax day at least 1,200 citizens showed up in the belly of the beast, San Francisco, to protest the Obama administration. Led by a citizen coalition including KSFO firebrand talker Melanie Morgan, the group assembled in front of Civic Center and then marched on Speaker Pelosi's office at 450 Golden Gate Avenue. In dramatic contrast to this city's normal lefty rent-a-mob protests which are usually mass produced events and underwritten by union thugs or the international Marxist movement, this one was a truly organic do-it-yourselfer, featuring colorful hand-lettered signs. Of particular note, the protesters conducted themselves with good cheer and demonstrated a level of civility not often seen on San Francisco's anarchic political landscape. --- We went into the heart of darkness and came out ok.
Started out at Civic Center Park. Then marched to the Federal Building for a rally and then to the steps of City Hall.
SFPD Captain said we were about 250-350, not bad considering it was a work day. Nothing too exciting only about 10 counterprotestors. Maybe there was more but many got scared off seeing the size of the Tea Party crowd.
News coverage ok. ... Above is an interesting little San Francisco scene. These anarchist Black Bloc'ers came to disrupt the protest. When the march started back to City Hall they tried blocking the route. One of them claimed to have been assaulted when jostled by someone in the crowd. Called 911 and the police responded. Strange I always thought anarchist didn't believe in police or the state. The officer said to the Black Bloc'er, "You instigated it and it got more than you could handled...too bad for you."
(1) SAN JOSE (Santa Clara County) Tea Party (CA) -- 15 April 2009 PLACE : IRS Offices 55 S. Market St., San Jose, CA ( across the street from San Jose's Saint Joseph's Cathedral ) WHEN : Twelve Noon - April 15th!!! BRING : Signs; Flags; Horns; Drums; YOUR AMERICAN SPIRIT!!! SIGN SUGGESTIONS : WE WON'T FORGET; FIRE CONGRESS; STOP THE THEFT OF AMERICA;...CONTACT : Robert Drobot E-mail Address : robertdrobot@att.net Phone: 408.945.9685 Other Info: http://traditionalpatriot.info/ UPDATE Just got back from the 5pm San Jose Tea Party. It was great. There were thousands of people there!!! The one thing that impressed me was that people driving around where the protest was were all honking in support of the protestors. I have pictures, but need my hubby's help to post them. I can't believe that the protest was that successful in the liberal Bay Area!!!!! --- A good event, despite the counter-protesters trying to start a fight. They assembled first with a half dozen holding up a sheet with a hand drawn and upside down American flag about 45 minutes before the event. It was captioned "F*ck the Flag" beneath. Some brothers who were obviously fellow veterans sized them up and seemed to give them the message that perhaps it was not a good idea to stay around. The black dressed ones returned (I counted 36) and first led a disruption for 40-45 minutes starting about 10 minutes into Melanie Morgan's appearance. They sent out individual scouts into our larger crowd, then massed quickly over 2-3 minutes to the stage right area near the steps. They made a point of crowding and intimidating, displacing those already there...including yours truly. When my wife was surprised that I wanted to yield and move away from them, I explained that I just had no patience today and I did not want to take the chance at swinging at one of them and have some piece of Shinola Lawyer working for Acorn sue me. As it happens, a fellow in a cowboy hat refused to yield his spot, yelling "I have as much right to be here as you"! As they continued to press him, he kicked back at their encroaching feet with cowboy boots that had a steeply undershot heel. His target was some toes in well-worn Birkenstocks. From the looks of things, he got his target. Right on, brother. I would not have been able to stop at just that. San Jose's finest were a little late at separating/standing between the groups. Frankly, the good nature of our side is what prevented any escalation...it was all on the punks, with them notching things up. About a third of the police unit moving in was composed of rather slight women, a mistake of affirmative action on parade (got that hate comment, DHS?). If I can get a little time, I may post some pictures in a day or two so those of you who are unfamiliar with our local professional protesters can get a look and become familiar with who we will be seeing at the coming events later this year. --- I was there with my wife and 3 little boys. I found it odd how the counter protesters came with Amnesty/Pro-illegal immigration stuff like that has something to do with the Tea party. I was tempted to tell the loudmouthed one with the “you are all ignorant” sign that whatever her cause was, she wasn’t going to sway anyone to her side. I was a touch annoyed that the police closed the traffic off to one side. I guess they have their reasoning, but the increased visibility would have been good.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO Tea Party (CA) -- Wednesday, April 15, first from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in front of city hall, 32400 Paseo Adelanto, then from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at corner of Del Obispo and Camino Capistrano; wear red, white blue and bring homemade signs and American flag
SAN MATEO Tea Party (CA) -- When: April 15, 1:00pm - 7:00pm Where: Corner of South El Camino Real and 31st Street in front of the Hillsdale Shopping Center Contact: grassroots007@aol.com Phone: 650.697.1964 Other Info: http://elsiegufler.com/ UPDATE --- In San Mateo, a tea party to protest rising federal spending was held on a thin strip of sidewalk in front of the Hillsdale Shopping Center. By 2 p.m., the number of protesters, many in historical-era costumes, had swelled to around 250, turning a stretch of El Camino Real into a tightly packed corridor of fiscal responsibility-loving, flag-waving tax protesters. Demographically, the crowd tended toward the older end of the age spectrum. Many seemed new to the whole "protest" thing. "This is my first time getting involved in activism," said Sara Dumont, a 76-year-old from South San Francisco. "I've always been interested, but this one really got me." Dumont said she had gotten notice of the protest by e-mail, and advance notice of the event was posted on message boards such as the arch-conservative Web site www.freerepublic.com.
And despite the debate over the whether the tea parties were a true grass-roots movement or merely a cynical political device for the Republican party, it's important to note that, using the tools of grass-roots organizers, the event's promoters were able to pull in an impressive number of attendees, many in their 60s and 70s, in a predominantly Democratic district. And while the protesters' passion was apparent — and yes, we mean you, wiry guy in the baseball cap screaming "How do you guys all like that change now!" while laughing maniacally — the thing that struck us was the sense of relief and belonging that swept over the crowd. That everyone in attendance was thrilled to find like-minded people was obvious. Complete strangers jumped excitedly into conversations about the dubious origins of President Barack Obama with a comment about the broken immigration system. It was like witnessing the simultaneous appearance of a bunch of gophers who had cautiously popped their heads out of their holes, only to be overcome with surprise ... at seeing other gophers! Or like the end of that Blind Melon video, the one with the girl in the bee costume.
Over by the Hillsdale Caltrain station, we came across one lone man in a nearby parking lot, pacing in front of a black SUV. When asked what he thought of the spectacle across the street, he replied matter-of-factly, "Hey man, it's part of what this country does — gets pissed off and then tells everyone else about it." And even though we knew we would be cursing the federal government later that evening as we sweated over W-2s and 1099s and piles of receipts that had faded like the summer sun, at that moment we couldn't help but think: "God bless America." (Inside the Bay Area.) --- This certainly wasn't the biggest event today - maybe about 100 people It didn't have any celebrities and it didn't have any speakers. It was just a bunch of Americans, young and old, standing on the sidewalk during rush hours, protesting the ruination of their country. Others drove by waving flags and honking horns. - A scene probably played out in countless communities throughout the United States today.
But this is how the revolution will be won. City by city. Town by town. Neighborhood by neighborhood. --- I think more folks showed up. I counted about 200 at one point, near 5:45pm. Plus a lot of folks drove by just to see. The sad thing was, when I went home my neighbors saw me walking down the street, sign in hand, and said they wished they had come to the tea party. But they weren't certain it would be safe. Too bad for them. It was great fun while it lasted. Folks stopped at my corner and shouted encouragement. I shouted myself hoarse even with my bullhorn. Kids everywhere, students even. Mall security, Police very friendly and professional. One counter protester on my corner. He ran away when the people in the cars started booing him.

5,000 attend tax-day 'tea party' at Capitol (Denver)
More than 5,000 people crowded onto the west side of the state Capitol this afternoon, as part of a nationwide string of tax-day protests dubbed "tea parties." Speakers at the protest, including a number of Republican activists, lawmakers and candidates, railed against current federal spending, President Barack Obama and Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter. They called the economic stimulus package fiscally irresponsible, and they accused politicians who supported it of ignoring the voice of the people. "The people in power deceived us," Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck told the crowd during the rally, "and we were complacent. We are complacent no more."
Protesters at the rally carried signs with slogans such as "Obamanomics: Chains we can believe in" and "We're not Europeans, we're Americans." A number said they believe the president's economic policies are pushing the nation toward socialism and financial ruin. "It's pretty sad that I've lived 65 years and never had a reason before to protest something," said Bertha Holland, who carried a sign that read, "Don't stimulate. Liberate." "What's happening scares me," she added.
The event was monitored by a number of Colorado State Patrol troopers and Denver police officers, although no incidents were reported. The Colorado event was organized by Brian Campbell, a Republican who said he is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter in the 2010 election. Campbell said he began organizing such "tea parties" — a name meant to invoke the Boston Tea Party of 1773 — earlier this year after seeing a message on the social-networking site Twitter about similar events around the country. He said he is worried about what the country's future will look like for his five children. "They need to be able to be free," Campbell said. "They need to be able to fail or succeed in a free way. I don't know anything else to do but fight." Campbell said he intended the event to be nonpartisan — he said he also invited a number of Democrats to speak — and strictly focused on financial issues. Rally attendees, though, had broader aims. Some held signs protesting illegal immigration, abortion, a cap-and-trade carbon tax, and the Internal Revenue Service.
Toward the end of the rally, a man on a megaphone began shouting that income tax is unconstitutional. Earlier in the day, one man held a sign saying "Where's the birth certificate," an apparent reference to rumors — deemed false by the state of Hawaii — that Obama was not born in the U.S.
Meanwhile, a number of liberal groups conducted their own counter-campaign during the day, holding a news conference before the tea-party rally, then milling about the crowd during it. Representatives from the groups — which included ACORN, Colorado Progressive Action, Environment Colorado, NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado and ProgressNow Colorado — said they support Obama's budget and the stimulus package, much of which Obama has vowed will go to infrastructure projects. "It's the first time in recent history that I can remember that we can celebrate the investment in our critical public infrastructure," said Jessie Ulibarri with Colorado Progressive Action. "If we want to move beyond this recession, we have to invest in these public structures." Michael Huttner, the founder of ProgressNow Colorado, said the "tea parties" were not the grassroots movements they claim but instead "AstroTurf." "The tea parties are the latest version in a months-long campaign against change, organized by right-wing think tanks and lobbyists who have done well over the last eight years under George Bush," he said. Huttner said national conservative political groups such as FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity have been linked to the movement. (SITE NOTE: SEE Article on how the media treated the 15 Apr Tax Day and you'll find that his remarks parrot that of Associated Press -- meaning that Obama has them under his thumb too.)
But Campbell said the Denver event was locally planned and funded. He said the audio equipment and podium were donated and that any other costs were paid for out of his pocket. "We think the sponsors are all these people who came and brought things with them," Campbell said. (Source: Denver Post.)

HARTFORD Tea Party (CT) -- April 15, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: North Steps of State Capitol, Capitol Avenue Contact: hartfordteaparty@gmail.com / gmail.com/mattjacksdesign@att.net UPDATE An estimated 3,000-5.000 anti-tax protestors descended upon the Capitol on Wednesday to chant chants and protest against the government on the day that many Americans pay their federal and state taxes. The protest lasted more than three hours - to the point that anyone who wanted to speak could come to the microphone by mid-afternoon. Chanting "Taxed Enough Already!'' and "Free Markets, Not Freeloaders,'' the crowd was a mixture of young and old - from 88-year-old Margaret Jedziniak, the feisty guiding spirit behind the Enfield Taxpayers Association, to a child in a baby stroller who was not yet two years... --- I started the day at 0600 with my sign and banner announcing the rally near the highway entrance in my town. It was awsome, the responses I got from the drivers...I had several thousand cars go by in the 2.5 hours I was there and over 20% honked their horns or gave me the thumbs up and the others read the sign with no comment. In this blue state, that is a positive thing! :) I got to the capital at 1100, dropped off my signs and banners and discovered I killed my batteries in my loudspeaker, so I went off to Walgreens and spent way too much for 4 lantern battteries and got back to the rally. At 1145 I started leading the crowd in chants and public displays of disdain at the spending policies of the last and present administration and encouraged the crowd to chant with me! From the sounds of it, they did quite well! Our leader, Rick R. did a great job as Emcee. Our first speaker was the talk show host Dan Lovallo who laid it out about the spending practices of the Connecticut government, both republican and democrat and their risky schemes they impress upon us. Next was Bob Jacks, a local business owner who started one of the most successful truck stops in the New England area and local hotel, too. He spoke on the need for risk in work and how the bailouts eliminated the risk and replaced it with pork and government subsidy and took away initiative. I forgot most speakers, One was Susan Kniepp, the former mayor of East Hartford who spoke on the increase in spending and it;s affect on rising taxes. The last formal speaker was WTIC radio talk show host Jim Vicevich who hammered the Pols with truth and facts! Pictures at this link! http://community.webshots.com/album/571109957HEFTWj --- Hartford (Crowd estimate by police is 3,000, but organizers state that 5,000 rolled through during a three hour period). Video and photos from Jim and RVO reader mamaria and dialupPete. -- 5000 American Patriots gathered near the front steps of the State Capitol Building in Hartford, CT. The Hartford Tea Party was a stunning success! The man who warmed-up the crowd is famous among our FR community. We in Connecticut are very proud of Jim. --- “I attended Hartford, CT. 5,000 people came out, complete with Highway patrol taking video of us… ”

UPDATE George report: I was able to attend the DC Tea Party for a couple of hours this morning. I arrived at Lafayette Park about 11AM. Even though it was sprinkling and cold, the crowd was beginning to build. Throughout the next hour and a half the crowd continued to get larger even though the rain had started to come down harder. Many American flags were evident and the crowd was polite, but enthusiastic – not at all like the anti-war or Code Pink protests that you seen on TV with unruly people who get into everone's faces. Maybe our side needs to be a bit more assertive to get the attention that is needed. Fox News was there and I got a couple of shots of Griff Jenkins interviewing people. I'm not sure how many people we ultimately had, but the weather definitely had an impact on the numbers. Around noon, some of the folks wandered across Pennsylvania Avenue and put their signs up against the fence surrounding the White House. They were quickly chased back from the fence by the police, but this is standard operating procedure for anyone protesting in the park. They simply don't allow any protesters to take their protests or signs to the White House fence and, over the years, I have seen many people ushered back across the street. --- In Washington D.C., a plan to unload 1 million tea bags in Lafayette Square was reportedly disrupted when organizers were told they lacked the proper permit. One protester tossed a box of tea over the fence onto the White House lawn, so Secret Service evacuated the area temporarily and sent a robot to examine what they believed to be a suspicious package. But with just a few disruptions, organizers say the event was a resounding success. UPDATE Great turnout, but ended abruptly after someone threw a teabag onto the White House lawn. A robot was inspecting the package, which the Associated Press reported appeared to be a box of tea bags. The rally, part of a coordinated event occurring simultaneously in cities throughout the country, was dubbed the "Tax Day Tea Party." Demonstrators said they disapproved of government spending since President Obama took office, and argue it will inevitably lead to higher taxes. Event organizers said they speculated the package was thrown by person or persons not affiliated with the demonstration. Also during this protest, the liberals came in with a hoax of white "rich folks" protesting for lower taxes on the rich -- thought to be sent by the Obama liberal elements seeking to discredit the protests -- and especially because CNN broadcast it so readily without checking the source.
Obama Is Just Not Their Cup of Tea
As a tea party, what happened in Lafayette Square across from the White House yesterday was a washout. There were no buttered scones, none of those dainty cucumber sandwiches and, as it happens, not a spot of tea. Organizers of the conservative protest were told at the last minute that they didn't have a permit to dump a million tea bags in the square, as they had planned.
Instead, they served up a rather noxious brew. "Hey Big Brother: Show us Your Real Birth Certificate," said one sign in the rain-soaked crowd. "Blackbeard Obama, King of the Tax Pirates," said another. A third showed the president dressed up as Steve Urkel, the nerdy black kid with big glasses and suspenders from "Family Matters." "Did I do that?" the sign said, showing a graph of the economy plunging.
Young girls wore T-shirts printed with the message "Don't tax me, bro" -- a play on a protester's famous "Don't tase me, bro" cry at a John Kerry event. Those messages might explain why Fox News, though actively promoting the "tea party" protests for tax day, tried to argue that it was not behind yesterday's coast-to-coast events. But Fox News analyst Tobin Smith, who took the stage in Lafayette Square yesterday, evidently didn't get the memo. "On behalf of Fox News Channel," he told more than 500 mud-spattered demonstrators, "I want to say: Welcome to the Comedy Channel of America, Washington, D.C."
After a few preliminaries, he went into a Fox News commercial for anchor Glenn Beck. "Anybody watching Glenn?" he asked to cheers. "That was a shameless plug, wasn't it? Glenn says hello as well. He's out at another tea party." Indeed he was, as were Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto.
A small group of counterdemonstrators, wearing ballgowns, tuxedoes and pig snouts, interrupted and were stripped of their signs. Smith seized the display as an opportunity to highlight the Fox News slogan. "You know what 'Fair and Balanced' means?" he asked. " 'Fair and Balanced' means we take our message and try to overcompensate for their lack of message." Smith left with instructions: "Keep watching Fox, will you?"
The theme was echoed in some of the homemade signs the demonstrators carried, including "Watch Fox News," "Thank You Fox News," and even a recommendation: "Move Glenn Beck to 7 PM." Without the spectacle of a 1773-style tea-bag dump in the square, the handmade signs became the focus of the event. Though ostensibly an anti-tax protest, it was more of an anti-Obama festival. Among the messages: "The Audacity of the Dope," "O Crap" and Obama as an acronym for "One Big Awful Mistake America." Some messages were ugly ("Napolitano -- Obama's Gestapo Queen," "Hang 'Em High Traitors," and a sign held by a young girl saying "Victim of Child Tax Abuse"). Others were funny ("Don't Talk to Me! I Forgot My Teleprompter"). Certain ones had sinister overtones ("Tax Slavery Sucks," and "Obama bin Lyin"). Then there was the guy holding a Cabbage Patch doll by its hair with the message: "My kid's growth stunted by your stimulus."
Though the left and right will fight over whether the protests were organic or fake AstroTurf, there can be little doubt that the grass roots were well nourished yesterday. The Secret Service informed the protesters that they could not set up their stage in front of the Treasury Department, as they had planned, so they wound up in a muddy patch of grass on the hindquarters side of Andrew Jackson's horse. The legs of the stage began to sink in the mud, and, as the lawn turned into a lake, several of the demonstrators had to wiggle their feet free of the muck.
"I don't think it could rain any harder," one of the organizers said. He urged the crowd to embrace the adversity: "When they tell you you can't bring a million tea bags to Lafayette Square, you work with it -- you find a place to put them."
For somebody, the "place to put them" turned out to be the North Lawn of the White House. As the protest began to break up, a demonstrator hurled what appeared to be a box of tea bags toward the executive mansion. The Secret Service, much like His Majesty's government in Boston, was not amused. The White House was locked down while a robot examined the tea.
Before the main acts, organizers allowed a bit of open microphone time, which resulted in one man telling Obama "You're an idiot!" Anti-tax activist Grover Norquist, in a drenched business suit, rallied the crowd before some counterdemonstrators with whistles interrupted; Norquist scolded the "loud brownshirts." Alan Keyes, another headliner, railed against the "orgy of selfishness," the "orgy of debt" and "the scourge of immigration." Americans for Prosperity's Phil Kerpen directed his anger at Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner: "The tax cheat got our permit revoked." And Fox's Smith colorfully described Congress as "the only whorehouse in the world that fails to make a profit."
Talk-show host Mike Church treated the crowd to a mock fascist salute and said that "it's time to have a little revolution, I think. We don't have to fire weapons. You should own them, you should have a lot of ammo to go with them, but you don't have to shoot them." "Unless we have to!" somebody called out. "No, you're not going to have to," Church answered. That's because these rebels, unlike the patriots of 1773, have Fox News. (Source: Washington Post.).
Tea Party Takes D.C.
The DC tax day tea party suffered from partisan infiltrators, an oppressive city government, and the kind of weather that usually keeps people at home. But you wouldn't know it from the turnout - 3,000 people showed up, stomping through the mud in Lafayette Square while holding umbrellas and protest signs in the 50-degree weather. And you wouldn't know it by talking to Patrick, a stay-at-home dad from Oak Hill who attended the event with his daughter. "We have to pay taxes on the same money 3 or 4 times," he complained, donned in a soaked poncho and baseball cap. "It makes me feel like our government no longer serves us."
In fact, the rain only seemed to harden the resolve of the protesters, reinforcing their belief that something had to be done about the tax-and-spend policies of the administration and Congress. "If you tax me, I hire less," said Tony, of Washington DC. He said the amount he paid in taxes for his small business serving court summons prevented him from hiring two or three additional employees, and that he was there to fight back. Tony was surrounded with signs with slogans like "Fun with numbers: millions, billions, trillions…" and "For real stimulus, bring jobs and capital back home."
Alan Keyes, Grover Norquist, and Laura Ingraham were among the speakers who manned the stage from 11-3pm. By the end of it, organizer Rebecca Wales was soaked and shivering. "It is what it is," she said of the circumstances. Wales had been there since 6am, about the time when DC metro police told organizers that they could not erect the temporary stage in front of the Treasury - one of the two locations where protests were planned - as had been confirmed at 11pm the night before. Then a truck load of tea bags was turned away from Lafayette Square, which organizers had planned on dumping onto a huge tarp to headline the event. The truck didn't have a permit.
"Somewhere out there, a truck full of teabags rolls on, destination unknown, into an uncertain future," wrote Jason Linkins at the Huffington Post. Linkins was more generous than many other liberal commentators. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow nicknamed tea party protestors as "teabaggers," a name that caught on like wildfire, and a host of liberal commentators and politicians derided the protests as silly and pointless. (SITE NOTE: "Teabagging" is a slang term that refers to oral sex of either a male or female. The liberal hosts of CNN, MSNBC and ABC insulted the hundreds of thousands -- though they claim "tens of thousands" -- of protestors nationwide. Their "cute" remarks were not funny and FOX News ratings soared while their ratings dropped by as much as 40 percent.)
Andrew Langer, President for the Institute for Liberty, was responsible for shutting down a group of DC protest infiltrators that reminded him of the group "Billionares for Bush." Several individuals in formal wear came to the protests, walked to the edge of the stage, and tried to obstruct the view of the crowd by holding large signs. Langer's strategy for dealing with the infiltrators was to get them out in the open.
"I got up on stage and told them that they had really legitimized our event today, and that we weren't going to shut them down, though I did ask them that they not hold their signs up in front of people so other people can see," said Langer. "I killed them with kindness."
A little after 2pm, the police made everyone in attendance move to the side of the park after a package was thrown from the crowd. A police robot examined the package before the event was allowed to resume, but it still provided the incentive for the majority of protestors to make their way home.
Not Karyn Skaggs, who had come from Columbia, MD. She said she was still there because she was "frozen, and couldn't move." "I think it's more than Obama," she said. "I think it's a runaway Congress passing bills they don't even need. I've sent letters to Congress about it, and I always get the form letter back. You can tell they don't even read my messages," she said. Maybe they'll get the message this time. (Source: Townhall.)

It was held at noon at the busy intersection of US 41 (Tamiami Trail) and Pine The drive by traffic was enthusiastic with “thumbs up” and blowing horns showing support. About 2,500 showed up.
NEW PORT RICHEY Tea Party (FL) -- April 15, 12:00 noon Where: Orange Lake Park, Meet at Veterans' Memorial Monument on Circle Blvd and March to City Hall. Contact: traceycoker@tampabay.rr.com UPDATE I was at this rally. There were well over 2000 people at this event. The organizers did a fine job. -- A woman screaming at tea party protesters in Port Richey, Florida hit a man with her car. Witnesses claim that the assault was intentional. Witnesses that witnessed the incident indicate that Schrey was intentionally targeting the protesters at the side of the road. The woman, Melanie M. Schrey, a 23-year-old from New Port Richey, was driving south on U.S. 19 in the righthand turn lane, according to an FHP report, when she tried to turn right into the driveway of Mel’s Diner at 9223 U.S. 19. But the driver pulled into a group of about 50 protesters standing in the driveway access, the FHP said. The front end of her 1994 Chevy struck protester Joseph D. Sprowls, according to the report. The 62-year-old New Port Richey man suffered minor injuries, the report said, and was taken to Community Hospital for treatment. In all, nearly 2,000 protested in the mall parking lot. Charges may be pending, the FHP said, and the investigation is continuing. --- Well, I was there and the road rage princess was to blame I feel in the sense that: When she first rolled up she saw all the protestors and actually slowed down and threatened to hit the people who were in her way!! People should not have been on the leading edge of the street granted, but when you are in charge of a 2,000 pound vehicle it is incumbent upon you to react accordingly to any road hazard! She initially came to a stop at THE BEGINNING of the protest line and screamed the above mentioned threats and then continued on 200 ft or so before turning in to Mel’s old parking lot all the while seeing that there was a line of protestors on the entrance apron into that property! If she had stopped or slowed down (the protestors were in the process of making way for her) this would not have happened! But no, road rage princess drove like she was pretending no one was there and then whoops!…”didn’t see you there” was her attitude but that’s ok, someone allegedly got it on video and if that’s the case her goose is really cooked! Again, while people should not have been on the edge of the road and sometimes finding themselves in it, this man was well away from the road and was halfway up the Apron 3 people thick in the crowd so she had no excuse for her behaviour with regards to driving. From the looks of her she was in a desperate rush to get to the cinn-a-bon in the mall behind us to which I say: Don’t worry honey, they’re open ’till 9:00pm and it was only around six o’clock!

PANAMA CITY Tea Party (FL) -- When: April 15, 3:00 pm - Dark Where: Sherman Avenue Post Office Contact: geleirer32@comcast.net UPDATE I attended the Panama City, FL Tea Party. We had a good turnout - maybe 800-1000. The local TV news showed up and so did the local paper. CNN described us a "A minority of older, middle-class white people." I bet if you looked up the term "taxpayer" in the dictionary the definition would read "A minority of older, middle-class white people." There were a couple of blacks there supporting Tax day. Some of the blacks that drove past looked like they were sneaking through a clan meeting. Heads down - no eye contact. Most of the folks were enthusiastic, but not over the top. There were a few that got a little rowdy. They were yelling at people who drove through in cars with Obama stickers amd arguing with Obama supporters at the stop light. There were no counter-protesters. A few people drove by and shouted things like "Go Obama", but hundreds of people who drove by honked, waved, and gave us "thumbs-up". I had a lot of fun reading the different signs. I wish I had brought a camara because some of the signs were great and a lot of the people there had some very good points to make. The one thing that I really noticed was that most of the people there were really well informed on current events. They knew the titles and contents of the different spending and stimulus bills. Most were very knowledgable on the Fair Tax.

Contact: saratea10@gmail.com UPDATE “Official estimate by the Sarasota Herald Tribune was “over 2000 people”. Lots of cheering, and horn blowing by people going by. A continuous round of speakers condemning out of control spending by both parties. We lined the road 2-10 deep for a couple of blocks around the bay and filled the bayfront park. A fantastic day!! No opposition or even police in sight. (I don’t think they expected a crowd. All was peaceful and enthusiastic.”

We will have accurate figures later. The press, with the exception of the local radio station, came late. I don't know what they will do with whatever they collected. I got to make a very short pro 2nd amendment statement, I just said that Mexico and the ghettos aren't my fault, and I won't register or surrender diddly squat! The crowd agreed! Let's plan a big Fourth of July, all over America, the ball is rolling, let's keep it going! UPDATE I had a great time. American flags were waved not burned. Cars were not flipped over. Storefront windows were not broken. This was how it looked as we approaced Gas Lykes park in downtown Tampa. This is Kennedy Blvd, more or less the main street going thru downtown. Until the speakers got going, most were along the sidewalks waving signs at the cars going by and getting people to honk their horns in support. You have to love the high number of hand painted signs. That is a sign of how organic this is.....Its not organised by a company or a "Community Activist Group" littered with professionally printed signs hot off the Kinkoes presses. This movement has legs...lets keep it going!
TRENTON (Gilchrist County) Tea Party (FL) -- April 15, 12:00 Noon Where: Parking Lot Next to the Chambers of Commerce Building UPDATE A modern-day tea party protest overtook downtown Tampa today. No one spilled crates of Earl Grey into the already tea-colored bay, but there were a lot of American flags wrapped around shoulders and a few "Don't Tread On Me" flags flying in the breeze. The rally bemoaned the recent federal stimulus packages that bailed out bankers, investors and big money industrialists. Well over 500 people showed up at the noon rally, one of two set for today. Many carried homemade signs and waved flags. Chants of "Throw the rascals out," "No more bailouts" and "Stop printing money" filled the air amid group renditions of "The Star Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America." Great anger, but high spirits, at the West Palm Beach Tea Party
Massive crowds filled the main government plaza in West Palm Beach, and even rain failed to dampen the protesters' enthusiasm to get the word out about their firm opposition to President Obama and his destructive policies. People are mad, furious, but still capable of having fun and staying positive despite our trying times. There was no good news for President Obama. While the event was technically non-partisian, I saw little evidence of Democrats in the audience. While many quite reasonably said the two parties shared the blame for our current mess, agreement was unanimous that President Obama was seriously messing up the situation. The usual single issue groups, on abortion, guns and the like, showed up, but the crowd stayed focused on the theme of the incompetent Obama administration and its alarming drift towards socialism.
Waving posters, placards and even sporting a pirate ship, the protest featured colorful and imaginative signs and slogans.
There were also speeches by various political leaders, mostly Republican, and the anti-tax, anti-spending theme was received enthusiastically from the crowd. People are mad, furious, at the current course the Obama Administration is taking in its attempts to right our economic ship through massive overspending and social programs. At the same time, the mood was anything but glum. It was in many ways a showcase of what makes America great - the cleverness and ingeneuity of its people. People worked very hard to outdo the rest with the most creative signs. Those who had pre-printed signs from their favorite pressure groups were lost in a colorful maze of original signs, all different.
While many expected disruptions from ACORN and the like, the protest went completely smoothly. I only saw one Obama supporter. He talked in a spooky, almost robotic tone, as though he was shocked at the passionate level of opposition to The One and his policies. While people are angry, what is really impressive is the fun and fellowship when conservatives protest. It was a great, creative way to blow off some steam and send our government officials a vital mission: We are watching them closely, and ready to wreak revenge for their sins come election time. Thats what the Boise police department estimated. Little Boise has shown how strong the conservative movement is! Very peaceful and respectful. Just what you would expect from conservatives... -- A buoyant Boise crowd police estimated at 2,500 people braved drizzle, temperatures in the 40s and the temporary absence of a sound system Wednesday to signal their opposition to a growing government. “Where’s our bailout?” asked Jocee Vreeland of Nampa, a stay-at-home mom who said she’s now looking for work because her carpenter husband is underemployed. “They give the automobile guys a bailout, but what about the carpenters and the contractors?” Vreeland said she didn’t really want money from the government, but that businesses should be allowed to fail. “When a private business fails, it fails. They made bad choices, they should go down like the rest of us.” (Idaho Statesman.)

Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814 Contact Info: Elizabeth Peterson-Hohn cdateaparty@yahoo.com I have a face book page set up under CDA Tea Party UPDATE Just got back from the North Idaho Tea Party. GREAT GATHERING! The crowd was All-American - young and old, boys and girls, men and women, fat, skinny and in between. We met on the North Shore of Coeur d'Alene Lake. Right in the middle of town. I am sure the crowd was over 1,000 people. Very lively, but typically well behaved. TV crews from two local stations were there. Local for us is Spokane, WA. Great speakers. One young man named Brock [10 years old] stole the show with Patrick Henry's "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" speech. He did it from the heart and from memory. No teleprompter!! There were two other youngsters who had presentations of their own composition, a speech and a poem set to music. I met a guy named "Bob" who thinks we will be nuked within a year. The crowd probably had people from all five northern counties. --- “We attended the Coeur d’Alene ID TEA party yesterday afternoon. The unofficial count was over 1000 people in attendance. It was great to see all of those citizens gather to make use of their freedom of speech and let their voices be heard. It was a peaceful protest where everyone was polite and incredibly patriotic. I pray that this will continue to grow.”

(1) CHICAGO Tea Party (IL) -- When: April 15, 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Where: Daley Plaza Civic Center, 50 W Washington St. Contact: info@officialchicagoteaparty.com UPDATE Richard Baehr writes from Chicago: It was bigger than I expected (3000-5000), and very high spirited. No anger to speak of. People were in a party mood -- smiling at each other, noting other people's signs. Everyone acted like they were among friends for a change. Some of the folks walking around with megaphones were very funny. Almost all signs related to debt, spending, and taxes. There were a small number for odd causes (end the Federal Reserve had some fans) It looked like a Blackhawks crowd (very few suits). Quite a few young families with their kids. Lots of ron paul signs. There were a few quiet counter protestors (American Friends Service Committee) against military spending. It certainly looked like a grass roots effort -- home made written signs outnumbered printed ones by about 100 to 1. Lots of media -- networks, and independent media. I was interviewed by two of the latter.
The crowd was not all white, though 95% would be my guess. Nobody seemed to care much about the speeches.
CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen could barely get through her live shot at the Chicago tea party this afternoon. Over shouts of, "You're not a reporter," Roesgen quickly wrapped up an interview with an attendee, then said, "I think you get the general tenor of this. It's anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox." A Fox News spokesperson responds to TVNewser, "Judging by their lack of ratings, everyone seems to be anti-CNN."
What wasn't shown was parts of her interview with a woman who was NOT as passive as the latter individual. This was captured on video by someone who was witnessing the confrontation -- and later placed on YouTube for the world to see. What was edited out of Susan Roesgen's piece was how she was earlier confronted with signs stating "Republicans are to blame too" on camera and told to her face this was NOT a political front but a true grassroots movement. What was edited out was how Roesgen was hosed down by the woman point-by-point -- by a woman who was better than Roesgen at in-your-face style but with solid points. Intelligence versus inability to refute the points showed she was a reporter that didn't do her homework. In other words, Susan Roesgen looked incompetent. After this experience, she then went looking for an easy prey to ridicule and "reassert" herself in the eyes of the camera. This was not journalism but pandering newsmongering -- selling one's soul for ratings. It is a sad commentary of US mainstream media journalists. (Source: Atlas Shrugs.) (SITE NOTE: Update: Susan Roesgen whose on-air haranguing of those she was ostensibly reporting on made obvious her anti-Republican bias. Americans who were outraged by her reporting emailed her to let her know how they feel about her unprofessional attitude. Apparently, CNN does not appreciate hearing from its viewers, though, because all of a sudden anyone that sends an email to Roesgen's CNN email address will have it returned as address unknown! After it was found that her bitterness with Fox News may have been because she was rejected by FOX -- TWICE for a job -- she suddenly went on a vacation and could not be contacted.)

Spokeswoman Amber Finkelstein told USA Today the tea would hurt aquatic life by depleting the water of oxygen. She said the act would be a fineable offense, and that the agency would not allow the protest because the river would not meet minimum water quality standards. Nonetheless, protesters rallied and enthusiastically dumped a large box of tea bags from a bridge into the Wabash River.

WICHITA Tea Party (KS) -- Wednesday, April 15, at 4:15 p.m. airport post office UPDATE I was there today, too. I estimated the crowd at between 500 and 1000 when I left at 5:15. However, there were many more people still arriving, so I'm sure the total number was over 1000. --- I heard an estimate much higher than that, between 3,000 and 5,000, actually. I, personally, tried to count the people lined up on the street, and then multiply by the number of "layers" and I was WELL over 1000, before I even got close to the podium. And, there were people BEHIND the podium as well, and people arriving and leaving all the time!
We were OUTSIDE and it looked very crowded to me. To make it look like a big crowd, in an OPEN FIELD is difficult to do.
Anyway, I am pretty sure the 3,000 to 5,000 is a very conservative estimate, from someone who had been on the stage and looked over the crowd. (The PUMA lady, sorry I forget her name). Susan Estes, the AFP organizer, wanted to be safe, and said "at least 1,000" into the microphone when I asked her. By the way, I tried to take pictures of State Rep. Jason Watkins but they did not turn out. Also, Vickie Tiahrt was scheduled to speak but I had to leave before Vickie could even find a parking spot anywhere near the podium. Senator Sam Brownback also spoke. It is nice to be in Kansas, where at least a few of our elected officials oppose this crazy tax and spend government! --- I'm not good at estimating crowd sizes. About as much as I've seen at a Shocker's baseball game I guess. I heard the number 1000 from one of the speakers. Even the small number of teens/twenty-somethings I saw was pretty impressive though. --- "We only had 1,500 but Wichita is only a medium sized city. FRANKFORT Tea Party (KY) -- April 15, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Where: Capital Building Contact: frankforttaxdayteaparty@gmail.com UPDATE Thousands of protesters, some dressed like Revolutionary War soldiers and most waving signs with anti-tax slogans, gathered around the nation Wednesday for a series of rallies modeled after the original Boston Tea Party. They chose the income tax filing deadline to express their displeasure with government spending since President Barack Obama took office. The protests were held everywhere from Kentucky, which just passed tax increases on cigarettes and alcohol, to South Carolina, where the governor has repeatedly criticized the $787 billion economic stimulus package Congress passed earlier this year. "Frankly, I'm mad as hell," said Des Moines, Iowa, businessman Doug Burnett, one of about 1,000 people, many in red shirts declaring "revolution is brewing," at a rally at the Iowa Capitol. "This country has been on a spending spree for decades, a spending spree we can't afford." --- More than 5,000 people crowded onto the west side of the state Capitol today, as part of a nationwide string of Tax Day protests dubbed “tea parties.” Speakers at the protest, including a number of Republican activists, lawmakers and candidates, railed against current federal spending, President Barack Obama and Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter. They called the stimulus package fiscally irresponsible and they accused politicians who supported it of ignoring the voice of the people. “The people in power deceived us,” Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck said to the crowd during the rally, “and we were complacent. We are complacent no more.” Protesters at the rally carried signs saying things such as “Obamanomics: Chains we can believe
in” and “We’re not Europeans, we’re Americans.”

I saw the picture, and as an Architect who knows space, there were way more than 3000 people there! Measure the approximate area taken up by the standing crowds and divide by 5 square per person (max. occupancy calcs by IBC for standing room only assembly areas) and that would be your total. It looked to me that you had between 8,000 and 10,000 people there. I do have one complaint from my Mother who attended: IT WAS BORING!! NO ONE WANTED TO HEAR POLITICIANS, ESPECIALLY REPUBLICAN ONES WHO SPENT LIKE DRUNKEN SAILORS UNDER BUSH. GET A BAND, HAVE CITIZENS SPEAK, GET RILED UP!! DICK ARMEY AND HIS ORGANIZATION IS NOT WHAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT. HERE IN HOUSTON IT WAS A TRUE GRASS ROOTS PHENOM STARTED ON FACEBOOK AND WE HAD 10000 PEOPLE ATTEND. T.E.A. Party organizers say they're angry at federal spending since President Barack Obama took over. Protesters gathered to denounce big government spending at the Springfield Post Office on Wednesday, tax deadline day. Taxpayers waved signs that read everything from "Give us liberty, not debt," to "Born free, taxed to death." --- http://www.cbs3springfield.com/news/local/43067907.html Video from Channel CBS3 - Springfield 300 strong for this rally --- We probably had 300+ people at one time. No violence, 3 people had a LaRuche table set up, 1 fellow had a “fox, fascist right wing media” sign. Conservative protesters are so much better behaved and civilized than the other side. The counter protesters were engaged in a friendly charitable fashion. This was not the goal of a movement, just a beginning. Many of us are becoming involved in our local politics, forcing local media to pay attention to us and writing to our elected officials daily. We are going to host dances for teens, symposiums on the constitution, motorcycle rallies .......

WESTMINSTER Tea Party (MD) April 15, 6:30 pm Where: Legends Cafe off of Route 140 in Westminster, Next door to the McDonald’s located at 140 and Gorsuch Rd. UPDATE Washington’s Tea Party was beckoning all week but we had to settle for Westminster. [Mrs] T, Fraxinus and myself, [Mr] T, arrived around 6:10 and a good size crowd of about 100 was already there. A light rain was falling but nothing like in D.C. earlier in the day. [Mrs] T took off to start taking pictures, Fraxinus held his sign, and I started to put together my flag pole. Another Tea Partier came up to me and asked if he could hang his “Don’t Tread On Me” on yellow background flag on my pole. Getting some plastic ties, it was quickly attached. He had no problem finding me when he was ready to go. But he did have a long walk to get to me as will be shown in some later pictures.. The Westminster TEA Party was held outside the Legend’s Café and was co-sponsored by Central Carroll Republican Club. Apparently the Club meets there for its meetings and IS a real conservative Republican group. Michelle Jefferson was the principal organizer. She got the Westminster mayor and a local Maryland senator to also talk. And rousing they all were after saying the Pledge of Allegiance and some songs. There were a lot of good signs at Westminster as were at the other TEA Parties. All homemade by grassroots people, not like at the leftists protests where the signs are all paid for by astro-turf rich leftists. [Mrs] T got some good pics of them.
Being at the back fringe of the crowd so that my flags didn’t block anyone’s view and so my cigar smoke didn’t bother anyone, I talked to several people. They were all ready to go, to keep the current administration and liberals from ruining our great Country. [Mrs] T talked to one older lady who said she had to come out today despite her crippling arthritis in her knees and back. Fraxinus was seen talking to several civilian dresses young soldiers. The Carroll County Times had a real good article in their Thursday edition. We had figured there were about 4-500 Partiers, but they said 700. Being a fairly conservative newspaper, I can believe their numbers. From the pictures, you can decide. The rain let up before we left.

Jarret Jakubowski of Grand Rapids Township may have the solution. Take a panoramic photo and count the people. Jakubowski, 62, captured a wide image of the tea party/anti-tax rally at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids Wednesday. Then, counting by rows, he calculated the crowd at 2,000 plus. To be clear, Jakubowski was not a disinterested observer. He says he held his 10-megapixel Olympus with one hand while holding his "Don't tread on me" sign with the other. He shot the images from behind the lectern. But his count from the photo at least doubles the 1,000 people estimated by reporters from several media outlets at the scene. Critics of the tea parties similarly complained that media outlets over-estimated the crowd counts. --- “Grand Rapids MI, official number was 3,600.”

MARQUETTE Tea Party (MI) -- April 15th (LOCAL UNANNOUNCED COMMANDO TEA PARTY) UPDATE -- Instead of dumping shiploads of tea overboard, fed-up taxpayers in Marquette today gathered with signs declaring their support for a different kind of tea party. About 100 people from communities in the central Upper Peninsula gathered in front of the Marquette County Courthouse at noon today, the day income taxes are due. With them they brought tea bags, signs on cardboard or wood, plenty of red, white and blue. They had conversations about taxes, politics and govenment; they sang the national anthem; they listened as some addressed the crowd with a microphone. The result of the rally, part of a national event called TEA Party Day, will be a petition circulated, dozens of envelopes containing tea bags sent to the White House, and phone calls and letters to U.P. legislators. The message is that citizens are "taxed enough already" and the federal government's spending and debt plans are too much to ask taxpayers to fund. Organizer Shannon Kemp, of Ishpeming, said she learned about the TEA Party Day through the American Family Association, which sponsors the event. She organized it after seeing the nearest events were in other U.P. counties. Another TEA Party event is planned tonight at 5:30 p.m. on Washington Street, across from the Marquette post office.

Where: Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth, Michigan Event info: Guest speakers, live music, drama Other info: Signs, cell phones to call politicians Contact: patriots04freedom@yahoo.com UPDATE I was shocked. Kellogg Park was filled. One of my friends walked around, he estimates 2000 to 3000 people. Now you may want to google the park and it's size, my guess a city block wide and long, and a good chunk of the park is taken by trees and a fountain. The signs were amazing, so creative. Two that were really funny were Levin and Stabenow with pirate patches. Many speakers, one Libertarian Author, I met his wife and commented on her Galt shirt, and she was suprised folks knew. But it was all walks of life, young old etc. Thadeus McCotter spoke briefly, with quite a good speech speaking about our founders, our tenants in a very statesmen like manor. IMHO he has promise on the national stage, one of the few good guys. --- “The Protest in Livonia/Northville (along the city limits on both sides of the road) drew an estimated 400 people, and the Rally at Kellogg Park in Plymouth drew about 1000 people.” -- “Thank you, thank you to all the organizers and all the attendees at the Plymouth tea party. I was impressed. When we drove up, (my husband and children came with me) there seemed to be just a few people there. However, just as we were walking from our parking spot, it was like a pilgrimage of people coming from all directions, calmly walking to the open space by the river. Some were carrying signs, some with dogs, some with little ones. Once we got there, we were no longer afraid that we would be the only ones. There were several speakers, one was Jim Jacobson, former policy analyst for the Reagan Administration who reminded us of Reagan’s quotable quotes about the size of government and how ineffective it is. The organizers did a great job of including a singer, who led us all in the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, and This Land Is Your Land, and two men from a local radio show had a great time on stage pointing out all the wasteful spending included in the stimulus package. The whole program lasted an hour which culminated with most of the attendees lining up to throw tea into the Saint Mary River. When my husband and I talked with some of the attendees, we found out that our drive of 2 1/2 hours was not as far as some had come. There were people from Marquette, Boyne City, Detroit and Battle Creek, Cheboygan and Mackinaw City, Rogers City and Hawks. And no, none of us were paid to be there. I have friends that do not understand that the money they get back at tax time isn’t money from the government, it is money they overpaid throughout the year. Consequently, they never see the big number they actually paid in. I’m serious! And one of them is a school teacher! Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan is a town of about 16,000 people and is the oldest city in the midwest. It is at the eastern edge of Michigan’s upper peninsula, and is connected to Canada via the International Bridge to it’s twin city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. (Source: Jennerations Blog.)

We only had about 350 people, but many many people driving by honked and waved in support. ST PAUL (Twin Cities) Tea Party (MN) -- When: April 15, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Where: Minnesota State Capitol Contact: TwinCityteaparty@gmail.com UPDATE Hundreds of tea-bag-toting protesters staged a "tea party" at the state Capitol on Wednesday evening to express outrage over soaring federal government spending, bailouts and a sour economy. "Our message is simple," said Sue Jeffers, rally mistress of ceremonies. "Repeal the pork, cut the taxes, stop the out-of-control spending and get government out of lives." --- I attended the tea party at Minnesota's State Capitol in St. Paul tonight. It was a fun event, partly because it was our most beautiful evening of the spring. The crowd was impressive. I'm no judge of crowd size, but it was announced at 8,000-10,000. That might be a little high, but is probably in the ballpark. The crowd was more fun-loving than rowdy, and the speakers, for the most part, more academic than rabble-rousing. But, hey: it's Minnesota.

It was difficult to get a good shot of it all, but here are a few from different angles (The Kansas City Star says the crowd was at least 4,000):
LEE'S SUMMIT Tea Party (MO) -- April 15 (UNANNOUNCED COMMANDO TEA PARTY) UPDATE In Lee's Summit, nearly 300 people turned out for a "tea party" on the steps at City Hall to express their frustration at how their tax dollars are being spent.
ST LOUIS Tea Party (MO) -- April 15, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm Where: Kiener Plaza Contact: bill@hennessysview.com P. 314.266.1775 Other Info: http://www.hennessysview.com UPDATE “Please note that St. Louis Missouri had an estimated 10,000 people at the Tea Party here on April 15th.” --- Thousands of people packed Kiener Plaza downtown on Tax Day to vent their ire at President Barack Obama and other leaders and to show their concern about the nation's future. They joined thousands more across the country who took to public places for "tea parties" to protest what they see as pork in the nation's budget, an unfair tax burden on working Americans, deficit spending and government bailouts they say will fall to our children to repay. . . . While protests on tax-filing day are nothing new, the tea party protests Wednesday at more than 700 locations around the country far exceeded past gatherings for two main reasons: the mobilizing power of the Internet and the efforts of conservative groups seeking pathways back to power. What would have been hard to predict months or even weeks ago was the anger expressed not over taxes, but over spending. . . . Democrats have painted those behind the tea parties as far-right conservatives who thrived under President George W. Bush and are opposed to Obama's agenda. . . . Organizers say the tea parties are the grass-roots expression of anger at the direction the country is going and aren't affiliated with a political party. "This is not a party event," St. Louis coordinator Bill Hennessy told the crowd. "We're here around the same things: taxing and spending and borrowing and the size of our government." . . . Organizers promised more tea parties, with the next in St. Louis penciled in for July 4 — an apt date for a group that uses the language of revolution. . . . --- I was at the St. Louis Tea Party. I thought the crowd was around 5K, the media said 10K. Great signs and atmosphere. Little kids with Indian war paint, ala the original Tea Party participants. 3 Socialist punks showed up and were razzed pretty effectively by an unending stream of Tea Party attendees. These were pros because they set up camp right next to the TV truck. Little pricks. --- The counter protesters with a blue face was Jamie Allman, conservative talk show host. He showed up to prove that he wouldn't get is a$$ kicked for having a different opinion. He also tried to punk the media!

Republicans, Democrats, Liberals and Independents showed up for a peaceful protest of the taxpayers. All ages and walks of life showed up, it was great. They are talking about holding another Tea Party. -- Speech by: Mitch Martin “Country of Makers, not Takers!” This is a very stirring speech given by a local citizen of Washington, Missouri on the bank of the Missouri River. It was a great event, great people, decent, hard working, educated, patriots all! --- It was a beautiful afternoon on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Nearly 2,000 "right wing extremists", otherwise known as Patriots, joined in a movement to exercise their right of free speech. We gathered at the Gulfport Sportsplex, a super nice facility with soccer fields, baseball diamonds and huge water slides. The Gulfport event was one of about 6 in the state. The Jackson event had about 2,000 attend also. I haven't heard from from my contacts at the other events. Reports will follow as info is available. There were a number of speakers who covered several issues including taxes, spending, too much regulation, too much intrusion, out of control government. The crowd was very well behaved (of course, we are patriots). It was nice see so many teens in the crowd who 'get it'. --- “Gulfport had a great crowd tonight last count that I heard of was about 516". --- “All of us Gulfport Tax Day Tea Party organizers are proud to announce that by our best guess estimates, based on the number of cars at the event, and that well over 800 signed our petitions (and some didn’t); we estimate that between 1200 -1400 attended the event. We were pleasantly surprised at the turnout. We had a super crowd, and can hardly wait to do it again.”

It was 36 degrees with a little snow. An estimated crowd of 500 people showed up to voice their displeasure of out of control government spending. There were at least 6 speakers who really got the enthusiastic crowd yelling and screaming at times. There were postcards available for people to sign to go to Senator Baucus and Senator Tester. The postcards said “I am a registered America voter, and I will not re-elect you unless I am heard.”. There was also room on the cards to write additional comments and many did that. Some of the comments written were: “Stop spending my kids future.”, “Enough is enough”, “I don’t want a nanny state. What happened to state sovereignty?”, “Cut the Spending”, “What are you thinking?”, “You are taxing us to death and I don’t like your change.”, “You do not represent Montana, stay back east.”, “How much debt do you think my kids can pay off?”, “You work for us, not the other way around!”, “I have never been so disappointed.”, “Are you joking? Be a proud American! God Bless America!”, “I am neither a democrat nor a republican - but enough is enough and I will get involved now!” -- Hundreds of people braved the snow, rain, and chill in downtown Great Falls on Wednesday to participate in a tax day “tea party.” Video and photos here.
